Aurora Cultural Centre presents Njacko Backo
April 10, 2027
Travel to the heart of Cameroon with one of Canada's
most beloved world music ambassadors. Born in the village of Bazou, Njacko
Backo spent 11 years performing across West Africa and Europe before
settling in Canada in 1989, and has since become one of the country's most
recognized world music performers and educators, with over a dozen albums
and festival appearances from the Montréal Jazz Festival to the Louisiana
Folk Festival. A musician, storyteller, dancer, and educator, he brings
the vibrant sounds of Africa to the intimate setting of Brevik Hall with
djembe drums, the ngoni harp, and his signature kalimba. Interactive,
educational, and irresistibly fun, this is a performance that draws the
whole family in - and has everyone on their feet before it's over.
